The BFG February meetup will benefit Loudoun Interfaith Relief.
Loudoun Interfaith Relief (LIR) is the largest and only nutritious food pantry in Loudoun County. LIR serves their clients by providing the food necessary to prepare three balanced meals a day for three days for any size family.
Established in 1991, LIR offers support and solutions to several groups of people: (1) the working poor whose income is insufficient to cover basic necessities (2) the unemployed (3) the senior or the sick who cannot compete in the workplace and (4) the homeless who have no income and who cannot afford a roof over their head. Today, the need to combat hunger in our community continues and unfortunately continues to grow…
Tough economic times have greatly increased the number of families in need. In 2007, demand grew 13%, followed by a 20% growth in 2008. Since July 2008, LIR has helped an average of 1,100 households per month. Financial contributions decreased dramatically in 2008, and although food donations from area businesses increased, it wasn't enough to offset the rise in demand.
Donations come from a variety of sources. Food donations are received by the community from local grocery stores, individuals, faith communities, clubs and organizations.
Join us February 19 at O'Faolain's Irish Restaurant in Sterling to support Loudoun Interfaith Relief and combat hunger in our community!
